The Leachriders

The Leachriders are led by Captain Frye, a particularly vicious Necronaut. However, the crew itself does not identify as Necronauts. While it is never explicitly stated that the Leachriders are vampires, it is heavily implied. Their prisoners are always found exsanguinated through small puncture wounds at major arteries. The crew as a whole has an almost cult-like following of Captain Frye. Captain Frye himself is a complex character. His ship, the Leach Raider, is designed along the lines of a 16th century man-o-war, although of course with the necessary adaptations for water-to-space travel. The Leachriders are known to delight in sowing chaos. Their raids are feared for their unpredictable nature as well as their brutality. The violence they carry out is markedly at odds with their visual appearance. The Leachriders are recognizable by their sleek garments and heavy fur cloaks. In the TV series, the set design of Captain Frye's cabin contained many visual Easter eggs to Universal and Hammer Pictures horror films, including portraits of both Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee in their roles as Dracula. At one point in season five, Captain Hellman made a deal with Captain Frye.
